About me
The picture here isn't me (for younger readers out there)--it's John Lennon, and if you don't know who that is, ask your parents!
20 year Arizona resident (so that nearly makes me a native) even though I grew up in Illinois, lived in Michigan a couple of years, and Georgia for five years before growing to the middle ages in the Southwest. After teaching English on the Navajo reservation in Tuba City for 21 years, I have now relocated to the Phoenix area to expand a business and work with Aries Technologies.
While I have a lot of different interests, the main topic for this site is
Comparative Religion from a Bah'i viewpoint.
What I'm interested in:
- Family Members and Ancestry While we don't have any iancredibly famous people that we know of in our family history, there's plenty of interesting characters, and I've been able to establish that we have Scotch, Irish, and English blood.
- Chess
Reached expert level, but haven't competed in a tournament for five years. Formerly coached the local high school chess team, which won 4 state team championships and various other awards during my 13 year career.
- Film
Enjoy classic and artistic film most, especially Hitchcock, Scorsese, Fellini, and Woody Allen. Created a film course for our local high school.
- Music
Very eclectic taste in music; I enjoy most kinds except hip hop and rap. I especially enjoy the blues, specializing in Chicago style, and my favorite single artist would be Bob Dylan. I have hosted a local radio show featuring mostly "oldies" and blues. Have attended a variety of concerts, including alternative, heavy metal, classical, jazz, reggae, country, folk, and blues.
- Sports:
While I enjoy basketball, football, soccer, and hockey, the only sport I get "passionate" about is baseball--perhaps getting infected growing up in Cardinal territory listening to Harry Caray. I have also created a Stan Musial web site, dedicated to my boyhood hero.
