The Hendersons
- Joseph Henderson: married Mary McComb. They lived on a farm near jacksonville, Pa. where a son named John F. was born June 29, 1826. He was one of a family of eight. The members of the family were all long lived.
- John F. Henderson: married Ursuala Dickey in 1852. Two sons were born of this marriage. William Dicky Henderson on July 17, 1853 and Joseph George Henderson October 6, 1854. in 1855 they moved to a farm near Aledo, Illinois. Ursula died in 1857. John F. returned to Pa. with the two boys where they made their home with the grandmother (Mary McComb? until 1861 when he married Malinda Catherne Nesbitt. The family returned to Aledo. John F. was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1864. Apparently he had practised law in illinois a number of years before this. About this time the family moved to Washington, Iowa where John F. Henderson practised law for 45 years.
- William D. and Joseph George attended Elders Ridge Pa. Academy in the early 1870's. In 1877 they attended Rush Medical College. In 1878 they both went to Columbus, Ohio where they attended Starling Medical, which was attached to Ohio State University, and graduated in 1879.
- Dr. William D. Henderson married Sarah Spaulding of Elders Ridge, Pa. Of this union four children were born. Edith, Meda, Fulton, and Paul. Sarah died in 1892. He later married Blanche Jamison of Biggsville, Ill. having one son named Lou. Blanche died in 1927.
- Dr. Henderson practised for 54 years, retiring in 1932. He lived with Meda Mekemson until his death in 1943. He had no use for cigarettes, calling them "coffin nails", but he like cigars. Meda allowed him one or two a day, but only when someone could watch him to keep the ashes in a tray, and make sure the lighted end didn't set a fire.
